In Solidarity with Gaza
Milwaukee Vigil for Peace and Justice in Gaza: over 500 gathered in support of the end of the siege on Gaza. Br. Othman Atta led the event with an overview of the situation some are calling a holocaust on the Palestinians. "We call on our government to end the billions of tax dollars we give to Israel on an annual basis as well as the delivery of modern weaponry that Israel uses to occupy and terrorize the Palestinian population." Jan4, 2009.
As of Friday 1/16/09 over 1100 Palestinians have been killed, over 700 estimated women and children civilians while 13 Israeli defence forces have been killed, 4 due to 'friendly fire.

IVAW - Conscience of a Nation
Three days of testimony in 30 minutes. IVAW met in Maryland in March 2008, over 200 veterans in attendance, dozens of cameras, simulcasts and radio hosts. Over 50 veterans testified to what they witnessed in Iraq and Afghanistan and invited the world to watch. The event was ignored by the lamestream media.

McCAIN MIA ON VETERANS ISSUES
Iraq Veterans Against
the War marched on the RNC in St. Paul Minnesota to protest the war, and deliver a letter on the treatment of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan War. McCain's representatives refused to receive the letter or meet with the IVAW representative. (1Sep2008)

Government wants to block testing for mad cow
This is outrageous! Of course this isn't making any network news outlets.
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration on Friday urged a federal appeals court to stop meatpackers from testing all their animals for mad cow disease, but a skeptical judge questioned whether the government has that authority.
The government seeks to reverse a lower court ruling that allowed Kansas-based Creekstone Farms Premium Beef to conduct more comprehensive testing to satisfy demand from overseas customers in Japan and elsewhere.
Less than 1 percent of slaughtered cows are currently tested for the disease under Agriculture Department guidelines. The agency argues that more widespread testing does not guarantee food safety and could result in a false positive that scares consumers.
"They want to create false assurances," Justice Department attorney Eric Flesig-Greene told a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
